I hope this doesn’t ruin someones day but I have just recently been dumped. So to alleviate some of that pain one does what one typically does: turn to music. In this case I have gone to old classic: The End by The Doors. Commonly recognized as one of their best, this song has broke through to become an all time classic. It’s use in the Coppola film Apocalypse Now only begins to hint at the depth of this song. Fraught with Freudian thought and existential ideas, this song takes an average end of a relationship and, through an eclectic use of imagery and jazz traditions, creates what I would call an opus.
So in the purest form of misery, angst and sadness all around, I present to thee, The End by the Doors.
