Well, I’ve been three for three this week in getting a post up at least once a day. During a late night (or an early morning depending on how you look at it) music and caffeine are the two things that comfort a soul. A first cigarette in months on my porch at 3:00 A.M. really brings about a sense of how dark night really is.
I am posting again about Possessed by Paul James (only this time with a video link that is actually showing what I’m talking about as well as an improved understanding of how a blog works) because of the experience above as well as my desire to continue to try to give the man some credit for his craft. His rough lyrics capture what a realist would consider the true art of a tough life combining wonderful explicit images of life with the swing of folk americana. If you are truly struck by this man as I am, there is a movie about his struggle of making music and living in a world that doesn’t value musical sincerity like it used to.
If you are truly struck by this man as I have been, there is a movie about him called The Folk Singer, which follows his struggle to keep the music that he loves alive while balancing a society that has little value for a folk singer.
